St. Paul’s Memorial Church is a historic Anglo-Catholic Episcopal parish in Stapleton, Staten Island. We welcome everyone seeking Jesus Christ, fellowship, and service.

As Disciples of Christ, we proclaim the Gospel through our daily lives and in our communities.

MISSION

Professing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we are inspired by the example of our patron Saint Paul, welcoming, serving others, and supporting one another as a loving witness for the Lord.

OUR HISTORY

The parish was incorporated on March 11, 1833 in Tompkinsville, Staten Island, on land given by Caleb T. Ward.

The cornerstone of the present Gothic stone church was laid on September 29, 1866. It was the gift of Albert Ward in memory of his sister, Mary Mann Ward, and the parish became St. Paul’s Memorial Church.

Designed by Edward Tuckerman Potter, the church was completed and opened on Easter Day in April 1870, and consecrated by Bishop Horatio Potter.

COMMUNITY LIFE

St. Paul’s welcomes all who seek Jesus Christ and traditional Anglo-Catholic worship. The parish is also home to five twelve-step groups and two LGBTQ groups.

OUR ORGAN

The church’s important Aeolian-Skinner organ was restored in 2021 by Meloni Farrier Organ Builders with a grant from the Hampson Albert Sisler Foundation. Learn more at nycago.org/Organs/SI/html/StPaulEpis.html.
